Hebrews 4:16
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
In ancient courts, approaching a monarch uninvited meant risking your life. Even Queen Esther famously feared stepping into the king’s presence without a summons. Earthly royalty demanded distance, protocol, and even dread.
That fear has fully been removed by Hebrews 4:16.. It invites believers to come before the throne of God not with hesitance or trembling anxiety, but with bold, openhearted confidence. What makes this possible is not personal perfection, but the character of the throne itself: it is a throne of Grace. Because Christ has carried our burdens and fully recognizes our human weakness, and carried our burdens, the pathway to God’s Divine presence remains wide open forever.
Boldness in prayer is not arrogance; it is the natural response of a beloved child approaching his father. You do not have to disguise your exhaustion, conceal your faults, or dress up your distress with sophisticating words like the Pharisee’s. The promise is that you will meet mercy for past failures and find the Grace of Almighty God when your strength runs low.
Whatever weight you carry right now, don’t linger at the entrance of the Throne Room. The door is wide open for you to just walk in. Approach freely, speak honestly, and rest in the assurance that God’s response to your need is unfailing Grace.
