Luke 6:37
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;
It is easy to measure others by their worst moments while measuring ourselves by our best intentions. We notice the sharp word, the flawed habit, or a momentary lack of patience, quick to give silent verdicts in our own minds. Yet Jesus cuts straight through this human tendency with a simple, arresting truth: The measure we apply to those around us ultimately reflects right back upon ourselves.
Rather than asking us to ignore right and wrong, Christ offers an invitation to practice profound mercy. Judgment builds walls to keep ourselves feeling superior, but forgiveness builds bridges that reflect the heart of Almighty God. When we harbor condemnation, we become prisoners of our own bitterness. On the other hand, deciding to let go of resentment is not about pardoning wrongful behavior.—it recognizes that grace is far too valuable to keep to ourselves.
Today, notice where you feel tempted to write someone off. Choose the freedom of an open hand instead of a pointed finger. When you extend forgiveness, you aren’t just letting someone else off the hook—By extending forgiveness, you do more than release another person—you enter fully into the freeing flow of God’s limitless grace.
