Ephesians 3:20
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
Our prayers are frequently confined to the boundaries of what appears practical and achievable.In times of loss, transition, or uncertainty, we often reduce our expectations to match our intellect. We ask for just enough peace to make it through the week, or just enough clarity to take the next step.
Ephesians 3:20 does not just promise that God hears our requests—it reveals that our sharpest imagination is still too small. Paul uses language strained to its limits: God is not merely capable of doing more, but immeasurably more than everything we have the courage to ask or the creativity to dream.
The most striking phrase, however, is where that reality takes place: “at work within us.”
God’s boundless power is not waiting as a distant reserve. It is active right now within your ordinary, imperfect, day-to-day life. If God is able to do far beyond anything we could ever ask or imagine, why do we continue to pray as though He is limited by what we can foresee?
